Love it. Yes, we do a lot for our kids, and our parents did a lot for us. They made mistakes and so do we. Giving some grace to ourselves instead of beating ourselves or our parents up for mistakes doesn't help.
I'm grateful they gave me freedom to go out and move about in the city even though they must have been worried.
I wasn't given enough choice with my field of study. I gave my kids the flexibility to follow their dreams.
Certainly, Smita. We know how our oarents thought only certain fields were better than others. But even then they were looking out for the best.
And now we know and try to do things differently. Although, I know 100% the Lawyer will point out to his kids about how his mother was doing XYZ things wrong😂.
That is profoundly beautiful, Sheeba. And exactly what I needed to hear this week.
There is so much I would like to comment about what you wrote, but today I think I’ll just sit with it and absorb it all. You said everything. Thank you ❤️
This picture reminds me of the village where I grew up. In summer ladies, kids and men sat under the tree chatting and kids playing with marbles or rocks. I wish we did not give up the simple and the life that followed the season for more hectic life.
You're right, Anima. Those were some beautiful times. Compared to my children, I had so much fun as a child playing while elders sat and chatted. Now, there are no children outdoors.
It makes total sense sheeba why older generations focused entirely on basic survival and chores, since they had to fight just to keep a roof over their heads. Our generation has the luxury to worry about emotional health only because they secured our physical safety first.. 🥰🥹
You are so right about that, Priyanshu. My own father struggled from poverty and even two meals a day was luxury for him. My mother also speaks about how difficult it was for them. But I had a very comfortable childhood growing up. Except parenting was simpler😅. I am forever grateful to them🙏
We're forever grateful for them.. they're the ones who has shaped our life and because of their blessings you'll be able to do the same for your beautiful kids.. 🥰
This is such a beautiful reflection Sheeba. It reminded me of a thought I had while sitting at my son's high school graduation. In tears, I asked myself what the memory I hold most dear of my son as a child was, and it was a candlelight dinner. And I realized I used to love the same as a child because of how time slows down and we connect more intimately. My mother did it with me and I did it with him. I still do it with my kids to this day. Is my favorite way to end the day.

That's how it is.
This is such a thoughtful reflection, that image of parents up late searching for how to do better really says so much about how much they care
Lol yes mine are already doing it😂
🤣🤣
This was such a beautiful post Sheeba. 🥰🥹
You are spot on on how much parents these days do for their children.
We do indeed to give ourselves more Grace, and hope that our children see it.
Reut wrote about it here, backing it up with research stats that parents do indeed do a lot more these days! Great read I would say: https://theparentingmyth.substack.com/p/the-evolution-of-parenting-what-research

Thank you, Priyanshu❤️. Hope so too🙂
The one thing (it's hard to choose one) would be striving to be a kind as well as courageous being with the drive of serving others.
That is an act of pure love. We do learn these things from our parents. And Apurva, I can feel your kindness in your words everytime❤️. Thank you 🥰
All we need to create a loving, peaceful earth is for us to parent just a little more consciously the generation that came before us. 🧡
(Based on my observations, this is already happening!)
